Day 03 - A song that makes you sad



One of the saddest songs I know, paired with the saddest animated movie I know.

The song is "Man's Road" by America, and it's from the Last Unicorn movie. (I would hum this when I was sad as a teenager.) Here's the original animation from the movie.

The video above is a music video by Lostboy based on Grave of the Fireflies, an animated movie about two children trying to survive in Japan near the end of World War II. More information on this movie here.

This is "Rainbow-Colored Treasure," the ending theme from the "Brigadoon" anime. It's cheerful and bouncy and the anime has cute animation to go along with it. It always makes me happy when I hear it.

Song Meme, Day 1

I've seen a song meme making the rounds on livejournal recently, and it looks like fun! So I'm doing it.

How it works: every day, you post a song that fits certain criteria. I'm probably going to mostly stick to Youtube videos, partially due to copyright concerns, and partly because I often associate songs with videos (especially if I've heard them first in TV opening or ending songs, or music videos).

Disclaimer 1: I like quite a lot of Japanese and anime OPs/EDs, so many of the songs I pick for this are going to be Japanese. I shall endeavor to find videos with subtitles where possible, or at least link a translation of the lyrics!

Day 1 - Your favourite song

This is HARD, because I have a handful of songs which are my favorites, and I'm not sure I like one more than the other. But I think I'm going to go with "Full of Grace" by Sarah McLachlan. It's an amazingly pretty (if depressing) song, and I've loved it for many years.





I'm embedding a video created by QueRowena and set to the movie "A Little Princess." It's a very well-done video, and oddly appropriate for the song.

Second Time Around contests!

In celebration of Second Time Around's blog return from Certain Destruction (and also to get a few extra entries because these are really cool contests okay), I'm gonna do a whole blog post dedicated just to contests I'm entering on her site right now. :-)
